I know, what's my excuse. I don't have one - none. I honestly will try to do better!!
We arrived in lovely (?)Presho, S Dakota yesterday afternoon - will attach pix after this. We are kinda "out there" - literally! This is definitely big sky country - the place you need to be in if you don't want to feel fenced in. We plan to leave tomorrow and head about 2 hrs down the road to N Nebraska to a campground on the Niobrabra river for a couple nights, then on to N Platte Neb for a couple nights, in to Colo on Sat. Of course, just because we arrived, they have a severe weather alert for this evening - really? This rain thing is getting very old - maybe spent 6 days under the canopy enjoying what some lucky people call "the camping experience".
We did read that about the time we arrived in Minn the entire state was in a severe drought - by the time we left, only 3% of the state was in drought. Now do you understand how much rain I am talking about - that is a lot of water, folks, in about 3 wks!
We had a great time visiting with our kids in N Minn and S Minn - the grandkids are growing and are still excited to see us!! Our campground up north was one of those "resorts" - if they didn't have it for the kiddos, they didn't need it. We were there over Memorial Day weekend. We left for the aft about 1PM - when we left there was only one other camper (the place holds over 100) - when we returned about 6 it was full up!!
Then what happens (is this only Minn?) - is the next day ALL their relatives and friends show up for the weekend. The placed charged for visitors and now I can see why - amazing! Come Monday - 90% of them were gone by 1 PM. Our campground in southern Minn was in the middle of a corn field. A farmer decided to build himself an RV park - build it and they will come! It was the only one around with full hookups (which we needed for a 10 day stay) so we are thankful farmer Glen had a dream. It was really very nice, quiet. Alan spent a lot of time watching the corn grow. However, it rained every day. I think our Vit D levels are seriously depleted!! We haven't even been able to have a camp fire yet!
We have decided that Wisconsin is the most beautiful state we were in, close second was Tenn, quickly followed by Georgia - distant 4th was Illinois and even further down the line - S Dakota. Apologies to anyone from Ill or S Dakota - just being honest.
We hope this finds all of you and yours having a great summer!! More when we get to the cabin - hoping to find it in good shape!! xoxo
