On the water and feeling a little better. It is a beautiful day and the ICW is following the Wacamaw River which is absolutely gorgeous - heavily wood shoreline right down to the water; Spanish moss on the limbs that hang over the water. There is plenty of water here so no shoaling to worry about - a relaxing day that I still need. It is the weekend and the boaters are out!! It is amazing how close they come to us and rarely power down, leaving us with a wake that can really throw us around!! We always power down ( altho we leave a very small wake) when meeting or passing another boat, for marinas/docks with boats and fisherman. They really appreciate it and it is the courteous thing to do. Guess not everyone agrees or just doesn't care!?! Actually, in most areas if your wake causes injury or damage you ARE responsible. The closer we get to Myrtle Beach the busier as it is a real destination spot. We did pass an area that had a small ferry (maybe 2 cars) that operated off a cable. When not in operation the cable lay under the water. When we passed it was idle but would love to have seen it in operation. We did see a golf course that was on both sides of the ICW and had a "lift", like at the ski areas, that carried the golfers and their bags across the ICW - now that course wouldn't be much to play!!! Stayed at a nice marina that had some open space for the doggies. They are so good while traveling but anxious to get off the boat when we arrive. We were told that there were gators in this marina that would follow the small dogs up/down the docks!!! Needless to say, Teddy was carried, but then I always do as he is such a pee pot and would stop at every boat and piling along the way!! Not the best way to impress your neighbors!!
